A ROYAL NAVY officer from Ruislip was rewarded for his strong performance during initial naval training at Britannia Royal Naval College.

Midshipman Dev Chowdhury, 23, was presented with a college sword and the Armada de Chile Prize during the latest passing-out-parade at the world-renowned college in Devon.

The sword recognises his excellent results and the Armada de Chile prize his contribution to the overall life of the college in terms of sporting and extra curricular activity.

A former pupil of Queen Elizabeth Boy’s School, Barnet, Midshipman Chowdhury said: “The training was challenging at times, but the friends I made along the way and the skills I have picked up made it worthwhile.”

He aims to fly F35 jets off of one of the Queen Elizabeth class carriers for the Fleet Air Arm.”

His next port of call is the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose in Cornwall.
