PERFORMERS from Hillingdon are hoping to shine in London's New Year's Day Parade and win the coveted title of best council parade entry.

They also hope to raise money for the Mayor of Hillingdon's chosen charity, Michael Sobell Hospice at Northwood.

Dance and performing arts agency JAM2000, based at Windmill Studios in Ruislip, has been invited by Mayor Catherine Dann to mastermind the borough's contribution to the parade.

It follows the success of last year when Hillingdon took second place and won £6,000.

The parade is on January 1 and starts noon from outside the Ritz Hotel in Piccadilly. It proceeds to Piccadilly Circus, down Lower Regent Street to Pall Mall, Cockspur Street, Trafalgar Square and Whitehall to Parliament Square.

Cllr Dann said: "The parade theme is London On The Move, and JAM2000 has created a glamorous, sequin-studded spectacular featuring 40 performers aged between eight and 50 that truly represents the hustle and bustle of the borough.

"As they travel along the two-mile parade route, they will be collecting donations from spectators,”

JAM2000 volunteers have been working hard for the past few months to choreograph and rehearse the parade performance, design costumes and build props.

A range of sponsors have generously contributed building materials and funds.
