ANYONE who enjoys spending time in Hillingdon's parks and green spaces is encouraged to use a camera or phone to capture stunning photos of the surroundings and enter them in this year's Summer Snaps competition.

There are two competition categories, one for adults and one for those aged 16 and under.

The deadline for entering photographs is Sunday, August 2. Pictures should be sent to corporatecommunications@hillingdon.gov.uk

All submissions must be in .jpg format and no larger than 1.5Mb in file size, with a minimum height of 250 pixels and minimum width of 250 pixels.

Images must be taken in the borough's parks or green spaces, including allotments, and should be accompanied by a short caption.

The name and age of the photographer and where and when the picture was taken should also be provided.

The best photographs will be shortlisted by the council's head of green spaces, Paul Richards, and photography tutor Jean-Marc Teychenne.

Residents will be able to vote for their favourite shortlisted image on the council's Facebook page or by visiting an exhibition in the Uxbridge Library atrium from August 28 to September 11.

The winners will be announced at the Autumn Fruit and Vegetable Show, held by Hillingdon Council on Saturday, September 19 at the Civic Centre and they will each receive a printed canvas of their photograph.
