DUVETS discarded by Brunel University students were donated to Dogs Trust by Hillingdon Council this week.
Brunel University estimated that final-year students left more than 2,000 behind this year.
Hillingdon Council’s waste and recycling team collected the bedding in two lorries and delivered them to Dogs Trust in Harefield on June 14.
The duvets were gratefully received by the animal charity who will recycle them and use them as bedding for their vulnerable dogs.
Councillor Keith Burrows, Hillingdon Council cabinet member for planning, transportation and recycling, said: “Hillingdon Council’s commitment to recycling extends beyond providing free weekly collections for dry recyclables, garden waste, textiles and food, and a warm, helpful reception at our recycling centre in Harefield.
“This innovative initiative is an example of how we can help local businesses and charities, and at the same time reduce landfill.”
