Staff at a supermarket have raised more than £5,000 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

The staff at Watford Sainsbury's in Albert Road South, Watford, raised the money to name a guide dog puppy and met their sponsored pup called Bruno on Tuesday last week.

The five month old Bruno is currently being trained by volunteer puppy walker Alan Burton and a local guide dog owner Julie Norris and her guide dog Jester also attended the event,.

Joanna Landucci, community fundraiser for Guide Dogs for the Blind, said: "The guide dog service really does change the lives of people with sight loss in the community and the charity rely on stores like the Sainsbury’s in Watford and their customers for their generosity.

"The charity supports guide dog owners and their dogs throughout their working lives together."

The local Hertfordshire based mobility team plan to train around 40 new guide dog partnerships this year.
