Over the summer, Watford Football Club made the controversial decision to sack the manager who managed to get Watford to a very impressive 13th place finish in the Premier League.

It seems, though, that despite this, Watford have enjoyed their start to the season.

When the fixture list came out, a lot of people would have seen the first five fixtures for Watford and said “Any point would be a bonus.”

Incredibly, Watford have managed to produce seven points from these first five games.

After a compelling game at Southampton on the opening day in which Watford were down to 10 men for the last 20 minutes, Walter Mazzarri’s side got a draw.

Watford went on to lose against Chelsea and Arsenal. Despite the losses, Watford played very well and some could say were very unlucky due to missed chances and, let’s just say, some questionable refereeing.

Then Watford played West Ham and, from 2-0 down, they showed the character and desire required to stay up in this league by coming back and winning 2-4 away from home.

What an achievement.

And, of course, we can’t not mention the events of last Sunday afternoon when Watford deservedly beat Man United 3-1 through a combination of great performances and quality finishing.

There have been some brilliant starts to the season from Watford players, not least Etienne Capoue who has scored four already. New boy Roberto Pereyra is also sure to have fans excited.

The Hornets are now hoping that strikers Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo will start scoring regularly to add to the goals. After all of this, Watford are currently ninth in the Premier League.

Just how good can they be by the end of the season and how high can they finish?
