BOROUGH of Hillingdon Gymnastics Club, based at Botwell Green Leisure Centre, Hayes, entered a squad to compete at the British Gymnastics national final in Stoke last weekend.

Head coach Karen de Sa and senior acro coach Alex Uttley, former 2010 World Champion and Britain’s Got Talent Winner with gymnastics troupe Spelbound, were able to enter three partnerships, due to success earlier in the season at regionals.

Philip Stock and Morgan Baxter, Satleen Bath, Molly Berry and Jorune Kazlauskaite, and Julia Prudzienica and Sumaiya Hines competed to be the best Britain.

Mixed pair Philip Stock and Morgan Baxter were the first to compete.

They held first in the grade 2 category, with a score of 27.440 against 10 other gymnastic pairs, up until the very end when they missed out on gold by 0.18. Nonetheless, they took a deserved silver medal.

Satleen Bath, Molly Berry and Jorune Kazlauskaite were up next in a grade 4 event against 12 other gymnasts.

These incredible three were crowned national champions and were awarded a gold medal after a convincing victory, scoring 27.100.

The final partnership to compete were grade 4 women’s pair Julia Prudzienica and Sumaiya Hines against 12 others.

They also had a convincing win, scoring highest of the day and second highest over the entire competition with 28.030. The pair won a gold medal and walked away as national champions.

Next in line for club will be featuring as guests at the Showcase for Hillingdon at the Beck Theatre on July 2-3.
