HILLINGDON enjoyed a successful weekend at the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games as the borough’s junior tennis and male and female hockey and table tennis teams eased through qualifying rounds.
Each sport was played at Redbridge Leisure Centre, apart from junior tennis, which took place at Sutton Tennis academy.
They can now look forward to competing at the finals at Crystal Palace on July 4-5 against the cream of young London sporting talent.
Hockey team manager Andy Lazarevic was delighted with both the male and female performances.
He said: “The girls have just got better and better each year, but this year we’ve really pulled together.
“They’ve held the winners for the last four years, Wandsworth, to a 0-0 draw, so in my book that’s the match of the day. Three wins, one draw, one defeat - what more can a coach ask? Brilliant.
“The boys played out of their socks and stuck to the system we agreed on. They have come together really well.”
