THE weather was on the side of Hayes Hawks BMX Club again as Round 3 of the club race got underway at the weekend.

A total of 58 racers were at the track in Dawley Road, with ages ranging from five to 30-plus.

Excitement in the under 6s category was off the scale. Series leader Reggie Hodson had a challenging start with three offs in the first Moto. He dusted himself off and got back on his bike, but David Levytskyy triumphed in the final to take top spot.

The series trophy will be decided next month and is a close-run call between three pocket rockets, David, Reggie and Aubrey.

The girls were out in force and siblings Maisie and Georgia Surtees (pictured) dug deep in their races, but Iris Hajda triumphed in the 9-10 mixed category.

Poppy Oliver and Rachel Prichard also battled hard against the boys, demonstrating grit and determination.

The Stocks brothers, Ezra and Jesse, came first in their respective age categories. Jesse won a tough final, making moves to come from third to first.

The Ford brothers, Alfie and Oliver, also gave convincing performances to finish first and fourth respectively.

The 13-14 boys battled hard, with Dylan Slatter making the first three motos look easy. However, it was Riley Binnie who triumphed in the final.

Finally, the big boys showed off some serious skills as they showboated around the track. Chay Young, Cody Coker and Charlie Rough displayed style with their big jumps and tail whips.

However getting his head down and focusing on the result, youth coach Johnny Jackson sailed over the line in third. The first and second positions have already been decided, but the overall 3rd spot is all to play for next month.

The final race of the series on December 16 promises to be one to remember. As well as visits from John McDonnell MP and the deputy mayor, to hand out trophies, a surprise visit from Santa may also be on the cards.
